Every good cover letter has four parts

All 100 examples follow the same simple plan. Write one short paragraph for each part and your letter is done.

  1. 1The hook

Why this job, at this employer. Make them want to read on.

  2. 2The proof

Two or three results with real numbers.

  3. 3The fit

The skills the job ad asks for, and how you use them.

  4. 4The close

A confident next step and a thank you.

How long should a cover letter be?

Three to four short paragraphs, about 250 to 350 words. It should fit on one page with space around the text.

Do I still need a cover letter?

Often yes. Many employers read it when two CVs look alike, and some job ads ask for one. A short, specific letter is better than none.

Who do I address it to?

Use the hiring manager’s name if the job ad or company website gives it. If not, “Dear Hiring Manager” is fine and polite.

Can I use these examples as they are?

Use them as a starting point. Change the facts to your own and mention the employer by name. A copied letter is easy to spot.
